wedding cards don't need to be traditional!

Welcome paper crafters!

Today I'm sharing a rather unconventional wedding card with you. My friends are dear dog lovers and these 2 puppies are just too cute & fit perfectly for this customized love themed card in my view.

The background is covered with translucent embossing paste to 'lock in' the color & the front panel is embedded on hand made paper (Japanese paper).

Apologies for the pixeling on the photo but I didn't want to share personal details publicly... hope you understand.
Supplies used:
- SSS stencil
- Art Impressions - cat & dog front & back
- Japanese hand made paper
- Lawn Fawn - alphabet stamp set

Thanks a lot for stopping by, I really appreciate all your lovely comments & feedback - it's so amazing to hear that you like my creations!

Until next time!
Yours,
Steph

An Aussie mate's birthday card

Welcome crafty friends!

I have another card with you to share, and, being Australian at heart, I must admit that this is one of my most favourite stamp sets: Critters Down Under from Lawn Fawn!
I love the sunrise colors in the Australian Outback and tried to recreate them here with the soft purple Distress ink. The boomerangs are heat embossed to add some more interest & the clouds I've colored myself with watercolor pencils on watercolor paper & simply fuzzy cut them out - I love them raised from the suble background!

Supplies used:
- water color paper & black/brown cardstock
- Lawn Fawn - Critters Down Under
- watercolor pencils
- Glossy Accents (for the koala´s nose)
- clear embossing powder

Thanks for stopping by & I hope you like this cute new project of mine.
Yours, Steph

stencils, embossing & cute critters... all you need!

Hi again,

Today I would like to share a Panny Black creation with you. The critters are so cute & I love to spotlight them on my cards! Here you see me create my own background with a stencil & distress inks & the cute hedgehog on skates as the main focal point. Unfortunately I couldn't capture the subtle shine of the entire background (I have clear heat embossed it all to 'lock in the color' - never tried brefore but worked extremely well - and looks very neat).
Supplies used:
- SSS stencil
- Distress Inks
- Penny Black - Christmas Critters
- White Vellum
- Liquid Platinum & Seafoam embossing powder
- Watercolor pencils

Thanks for stopping by!
Yours,
Steph

Masking Technique & Watercolor Pencils

Hello dear crafters,

I've had a very creative weekend so far: This time I wanted to test my 'masking skills' (I've never really done this before)!
I love all sorts of 'interactive' cards and I find this cute kitten peeking through just adorable = )

Here the outside of my card:

And this is the kitten peeking from the inside:

There's absolutely no fuzz about this card, it's only a little time consuming to colour in the images & a little fiddly to make the peeking hole exactly where it should be (I don't have a die cutting machine, so I had to measure it all...; I believe with a die it would be very simple to cut out the round at the right spot).

Supplies used:
- white card stock
- water color pencils
- Lawnfawn - Critters Down Under
- Lawnfawn - Critters in the Forest
- Ai - Cat & Dog minis
- Paper Smooches Digi
- patterned paper (craft)

Enjoy & happy crafting!!
Yours,
Steph

Stamp your own STICKERS!

Welcome back!

Today I would like to introduce you to one of my passions: making my own STICKERS!

I hate throwing away pretty paper scraps and I don't mind fuzzy cutting; hence a new idea was born: I now make my own stickers for my cards, photobooks, etc ... you name it.

Avery Elle's VW bus is a fabulous stamp for that matter as you can see below.

Here are the individual stickers:

And here are 6 cards I have created with these:

Supplies:
- Avery Elle - Surfs up
- Paper Smooches - Go to your happy place
- all sorts of scraps
- SSS gold embossing powder
- craft cardstock

These Projects are particularly inspired by the following:

1 stencil - 2 unusual ways!

And one more post for today before I go into my weekend:

The Curtain Call Challenge is about to close, and I created a really simple card for it. But before I share the final product with you, I would like to introduce you to my new technique: 1 stencil - 2 unusual ways!

This is my stencil:

The idea was to tape the stencil to some craft card stock & fill the gaps with white pigment ink (which is very juicy compared to ,let's say, Distress inks). I've done that in a rather 'messy' way as I wasn't going for a perfect result, but rather an arty and individual background.
Once I had enough color on my paper I removed the stencil and let my card stock dry.

And then?

Then I had a ton of white ink on my stencil... and I found it a shame to simply wash it off.
So I grabbed another piece of craft card stock and simply pressed it on the top side of my stencil.... see this cool result - I love it!!

See on the left my initially intended background.
And on the right the 'left-over-ink-result' = )

And here is my final creation:

Supplies used:
- SSS stencil
- white pigment ink
- Cleary Besotted Happy sentiments
- a very ancient rabbit stamp (this is probably 30 years old)
- woodgrain paper & white vellum

Please go and try this technique for yourself, I'm sure you will love the results!

Yours, Steph

Purple is the new blue

Hello again,

As you all know I am still pretty new to the whole stamping world and just recently I've discovered a new Challenge Blog from The Unity Stamp Company. Clearly I should have browsed through their website more carefully and I would have found this challenge much earlier... Anyhow, I took a chance and created a card for this amazing color combo of purples and blues (*color.24*). This is what I came up with (using tons of perfect peals):

Supplies used:
- Perfect Pearls (purple & blue)
- Hero Arts large lace stamp
- Avery Elle surf's up
- Unity Stamp Company adventfull season
- patterned paper & blue vellum

Thanks for stopping by & see you soon!!
Yours, Steph

P.S.: I am also participating in the SSS Wednesday Challenge 'Something New' and the SSS Monday Challenge 'Old and New' with this Card, as well as the 'Cure the Monday Blues' Challenge #38 because of the happy & 'patchy' color combination I've created here & the 'Fresh Start' Challenge from Inspiration Journal.
